Kia’s first-ever global EV, the EV6, has received a facelift and now features several updates to its styling, battery pack, and tech features. The Korean automaker has introduced the new facelift in Australia and South Korea, with details about a North American debut still under wraps.
The biggest change in the now facelifted EV6 is the replacement of the old 77.4-kWh lithium-ion battery with a new and larger 84-kWh one. This allows the range figure to see a significant jump, as the base rear-wheel-drive version can cover a claimed 494 km while the all-wheel-drive version can cover 461 km.
It is important to note that the new range figures have been acquired via the testing methods conducted in South Korea and will differ from the ones carried out by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). The power figures on the refreshed model have appeared to remain unchanged on both the rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, however, Kia has yet to reveal the output figures for the GT trim.
To recap, the EV6 first made its Canadian debut in 2022 and is the sister car to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 as it’s based on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP architecture. The crossover is currently available in three trims, the rear-wheel-drive Wind, all-wheel-drive Land, all-wheel-drive GT, and costs $59,183 to $79,683. In its base guise, the EV6 outputs 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, the mid-spec trim develops 320 hp and 446 lb-ft, and the top-spec version with dual motors is rated at 576 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque. Coming to electric range, the current EV6 is rated for between a claimed 332 km to 499 km depending on the trim.
The exterior of the 2025 Kia EV6 sees a new front end featuring angular LED daytime running lights along with a tweaked front bumper and lower grille. New 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels are also available. The interior also sees some upgrades starting with the slightly updated dual 12.3-inch curved display showing the digital driver’s display and the touchscreen infotainment.
The two-spoke steering wheel, with an off-centre Kia logo, now gets a fingerprint reader to allow drivers to start the car without the key and there is a new digital rear-view mirror. Other new features include a new row of capacitive buttons for the heated and ventilated seats, a redesigned wireless charging pad, the latest infotainment software with wireless Android Apple CarPlay and Apple CarPlay, and an AI-based navigation setup with graphic overlays.
